The Paraprofessional position assists the certified staff members in creating a positive learning environment to facilitate the personal, social-emotional, behavioral and intellectual development of all students. This position is an integral part of the educational team because of the support given to the students to promote achievement and success while in school.Qualifications:
High School Diploma or above. Demonstrated ability to work successfully with children and adults. Ability to perform assigned duties. Ability to work collaboratively and follow directions. To assist the classroom teacher by working with individual or small groups of students to provide them with educational, physical and emotional support.Performance Responsibilities:
Supports and assists the classroom teacher in the use of all print and electronic materials for instruction. Provides academic assistance to students under the direction of the classroom teacher. Provide prompting, cueing, and redirecting student participation to the tasks assigned. Helps students who are absent or who need additional assistance with work assignments. Works with individual children or small groups in re-teaching, reinforcing and reviewing after the teacher(s) has (have) provided the initial instruction. Supports the teacher(s) disciplinary strategies and monitors the classroom if the teacher leaves for brief periods. Provides direct assistance to classroom teachers in maintaining a neat, orderly classroom and assisting in programs such as health/physical education and related arts. Adapt to classroom activities and assignments to serve the purpose of reinforcing classroom objectives. Arranges and supervises indoor and outdoor activities. Attends meetings and training programs as required by the Principal. Observe students for changes in behavior or physical health and report observations to the teacher. Performs clerical duties including taking attendance, typing, copying and keeping records of non-confidential data. Assists in activities of self-care for students. Monitors behavior of students in the lunchroom.
