Reno / Tahoe based, able to run to Yosemite trailheads on demand Job type: Contract (1099, per-trip / per-course) About us Alpinistas Adventures runs guided hikes, backpacking trips, and outdoor courses across Tahoe and Yosemite. We're building a roster of reliable, on-call people for the season — guides who can fill in when trips come up, instructors for local courses, and crew for camp support, gear transport and portering. If you're Reno/Tahoe based and like saying yes to a trip on short notice, read on. Who we're hiring Fill-in guides — lead day hikes and backpacking trips on Yosemite National Park for adult clients (groups of 1-6) when we need coverage. You're flexible, reachable, and ready to go on reasonable notice. Outdoor instructors — teach local courses near
Tahoe/Reno:
outdoor & safety skills, women's, youth and coed courses. You're as good at explaining things calmly as you are at doing them in an upbeat and engaging manner. Gear crew / porters — move and stage gear, support trips with transport and load-carrying, handle setup and breakdown in Yosemite National Park. Strong, dependable, good in the backcountry, no guiding certs required for this role. Great for someone that wants gas money and free access to Yosemite. Some trips will provide you with a Half Dome permit too. What you need Reno/Tahoe based, with reliable transportation and the ability to reach trailheads — including Yosemite — on your own For guiding: real experience guiding adults (not youth camps), plus WFA minimum for day work and WFR for backpacking For instructing: demonstrated skill in your subject and experience teaching adults For gear crew/porters: backcountry fitness, reliability, and comfort carrying weight over distance — certs not required Working knowledge of Yosemite is ideal— trails, conditions, terrain Your own gear and your own methods Who you are Matters as much as the resume: Upbeat. The mood you bring is the mood of the trip. Patient — with beginners, with slow hikers, with the person who packed wrong. Ego-free. No know-it-alls, no my-way-or-nothing, no making people feel small for not knowing things. Reliable on short notice. "On-call" only works if you actually commit.
