Full Job Description Purpose:

Provides assistance to the classroom teacher in the management, instruction, and personal care of students; performs related tasks as required and directed; all work is performed under the direction and supervision of the classroom teacher(s). Essential Duties Under the direction of the classroom teacher, assists in the implementation of an Individual Education Plan (IEP) for each student Assists the Special Education Teacher in all aspects of educational programming Demonstrates the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, administrators, referral sources and the general public Provides direct student care as needed including lifting, feeding, toileting and busing Assists in providing an educational and therapeutic environment Participates in planning and preparing classroom activities, preparation of materials, and assists with documenting educational progress of students through data collection Assists with documenting the daily activities of students; including attendance, behavior, affect, seizures, and mood of students while in class Provides attentive supervision of students at all times to assure safety and well fare Participates in all educational outings and activities and serves as an appropriate role model in the classroom and during school activities Participates in staff growth and development activities Completes other related tasks as assigned
