$19.00 - $21.00 per hour Job description: Assistant Teacher - 3K Classroom We're currently seeking an Assistant Teacher to join our team for the 2026-2027 school year. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who has a deep respect for early childhood development and thrives in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

In the heart of the Forest Hills Gardens. Beautiful, accessible site with subway, LIRR & street parking options We are a small, DOE-funded early childhood program offering a warm, supportive environment for children and educators alike. Nestled in a beautiful location with convenient access to transportation, our 3K and Pre-K classrooms are filled with curiosity, creativity, and community.

Approximately 190 days (September-June)
Daily Hours:
8:00 A.M.-3:30 P.M. (1/2 Hour Unpaid Lunch)

Hourly position, paid bi-monthly.
Job Description :
As an Assistant Teacher, you'll work closely with the Lead Teacher to create a nurturing, developmentally appropriate environment where young children can learn and grow.
Your responsibilities will include:
Supporting learning through hands-on activities and meaningful interactions Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment Assisting with setup and cleanup of activities Tracking attendance and helping restock classroom and first-aid supplies Observing, documenting, and supporting each child's development Participating in family engagement events, open houses, and occasional evening hours Attending mandatory trainings and professional development throughout the year Adhering to all health and safety protocols in accordance with Article 47 guidelines (you'll receive support in learning these!) Experience Previous experience working with young children in a daycare, preschool, or private school setting is preferred. Knowledge of early childhood education principles, childhood development stages, and behavior management techniques is essential. Familiarity with Montessori methods or similar educational philosophies is a plus. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and colleagues. Experience in lesson planning, curriculum development, and classroom management is highly desirable. A background in special education or experience working with individuals with disabilities will be beneficial.
Requirements:
Must already have or be actively working towards Assistant Teacher Level One certification within 7 months of hire. A strong commitment to early childhood education and teamwork Willingness to be flexible and assist in other classrooms as needed Comfortable lifting up to 55 lbs Fingerprinting and Department of Health clearances (we'll help guide you through this process) Up-to-date physical exam (every 2 years), immunizations, and a one-time TB test.
