Job Description

FHJC Early Childhood Center, a warm and nurturing Reggio-inspired preschool in Forest Hills, is seeking caring, energetic, and collaborative Assistant Teachers and Teacher Aides to join our dedicated team of educators. Our program views children as capable, curious learners and places equal value on social-emotional development and academic growth. Through active, hands-on learning experiences, children are encouraged to explore, create, problem-solve, and develop meaningful relationships. We believe children thrive in environments where they feel safe, valued, and connected. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; must be at least 18 years of age NYS Teaching Assistant Certification (Level I, II, or III) qualifies candidates for the Assistant Teacher role; candidates without certification are welcome to apply for the Teacher Aide role CDA credential or Early Childhood coursework welcomed Experience working with young children preferred Understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate practices Warm, patient, and reliable with a genuine love for early childhood Strong communication and collaboration skills Must meet all NYC DOE (where applicable), NYC DOH Article 47, NYS fingerprinting, and background clearance requirements Responsibilities Support the Lead Teacher in creating a safe, joyful, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment Foster children's social-emotional growth and positive peer relationships Assist with classroom routines, transitions, meals, and daily activities Prepare and maintain classroom materials and learning centers Help maintain a safe, organized, and aesthetically inviting classroom environment Collaborate with teachers, administration, specialists, and families Attend staff meetings, professional development sessions, and required trainings Ensure the safety, well-being, and inclusion of all children Position Details Full-time and part-time positions available Monday through Friday Forest Hills, Queens Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications Professional development and support are available for obtaining the NYS Teaching Assistant Certification If you are passionate about helping young children grow through exploration, creativity, and meaningful relationships, we encourage you to apply.
