Job description Overview Join our vibrant team as a Before & After-School Program Assistant and play a vital role in creating a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for children. This role starts fully part time in the school year, with a workshop event and paid training schedule in the summer. This is a job you'll actually enjoy doing! In this fun and rewarding position, you will support the development and well-being of students by assisting with daily fun and interactive activities, help build confidence and fostering a positive atmosphere that encourages growth and learning. Duties During the summer, help new families discover our program at summer fun enrichment workshops where you will plan and supervise fun activities from 9am-3pm on select dates. During the school year - supervise children during before-school 6-8 am and after-school 330-630 pm hours, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times Implement structured activities including homework help, arts and crafts, sports, theater, and other enrichment programs to promote childhood development Manage classroom behavior through effective behavior management techniques and positive reinforcement strategies Assist with meal/snack distribution and ensure proper hygiene practices are followed Support children with special education needs by adapting activities and providing individualized attention as needed Maintain clear communication with parents, teachers, and staff regarding children's progress and any concerns Ensure the safety of all participants by adhering to health protocols, first aid procedures, and emergency response plans Skills Strong classroom management skills to maintain a positive learning environment Knowledge of early childhood education principles and childhood development milestones Experience working with children in daycare, camp, tutoring, or childcare settings Ability to handle behavior management challenges with patience and professionalism First aid certification or willingness to obtain it upon hire to respond effectively to emergencies Familiarity with special education needs and inclusive teaching strategies Excellent communication skills for collaborating with staff, parents, and children Enthusiasm for engaging children in diverse activities such as sports coaching or theater arts Ability to multitask in a dynamic environment while maintaining attention to detail This paid role offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in children's lives while developing your skills in education, childcare, and youth engagement.
