Job Description

Category Schools - Paraprofessional Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding role as a valued 1:1 Teacher Aide/Teaching Assistant for a summer program near Elmira, NY, serving students in a dynamic classroom environment. This contract opportunity runs from July 6 through August 14, 2026, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 2:00 pm, for approximately 27.5 hours each week. Your role will make a significant impact by providing individualized support to students, ensuring they achieve their full potential during summer session.
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
Current and valid New York State Teaching Assistant certification required (Aides may also need certification). Previous experience in a 1:1 paraprofessional or teacher aide capacity strongly preferred. Demonstrated commitment to supporting students' unique needs in an educational setting. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, staff, and families. Responsive, patient, and adaptable in fast-paced classroom situations.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Provide dedicated, one-on-one assistance to assigned student(s), supporting individualized education goals. Aid in academic activities, classroom management, and daily routines as guided by supervising staff. Implement teacher-directed strategies and accommodations to foster student engagement and learning. Monitor student progress and share relevant observations with teaching staff. Participate actively in maintaining a positive and inclusive learning environment.
