Schoharie Central School District has an anticipated opening for a full-time Special Education Teaching Assistant beginning on September 1, 2026.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with classroom teachers, special education teachers, related service providers, and administrators to support students with diverse learning needs. The Teaching Assistant will help create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive learning environment while providing instructional, behavioral, and social-emotional support that enables students to access the curriculum, develop independence, and achieve success.

The ability to work collaboratively as a member of an instructional team while implementing teacher-directed instructional plans and individualized supports.

The ability to assist with differentiated instruction, accommodations, modifications, and classroom activities that promote student engagement and success.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality while supporting instructional and student needs.
Effective classroom management skills that contribute to a positive, respectful, safe, and productive learning environment.
A commitment to culturally responsive practices, equity, inclusion, and ensuring every student has meaningful opportunities to succeed.
The ability to communicate effectively and develop positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
The willingness to learn and implement instructional, behavioral, and assistive technology strategies as directed.
The ability to support students in developing independence, self-advocacy, communication, and positive social interactions.
A collaborative mindset and willingness to participate in professional learning and contribute to the broader school community.
Salary according to the Schoharie Teaching Assistants Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Candidates must possess and maintain appropriate New York State Teaching Assistant certification.
