Montessori Assistant Teacher/ Teacher Akron Montessori School Fairlawn, OH Job Details Part-time | Full-time From $17 an hour 2 hours ago Qualifications Working with children Montessori Nannying Teaching Full Job Description Overview Akron Montessori School seeks a passionate and kind Assistant Teacher to join our team. Our students are between the ages of 18 months to 6 years old. Applicants should have a minimum of a high school diploma and have experience working with young children either in a daycare setting or nannying. Our Montessori environment gives children real-life, hands-on learning experiences in a setting featuring natural materials, no electronic toys, and an approach that prefers concentration and focus, not overstimulation. We allow children to work on skills at their own pace. We speak to all our children calmly and show respect for their boundaries, and teach them to do the same for others. Founded right here in Akron in 1984, Akron Montessori School is owned by a husband-wife team of AMI Montessori Certified educators. Our core values include sustainable living, teaching peace, and celebrating Akron's diverse community. We have a beautiful wooded campus and organic children's garden. Our small, close-knit community includes families that have been with us for multiple generations. Duties Support classroom management Model a positive and peaceful learning environment Encourage positive social interactions among students Maintain a clean and attractive prepared environment Eager to learn and implement Montessori philosophies Qualifications Experience in childcare or daycare setting Strong communication skills to interact effectively with students, peers and parents Classroom management skills to create a positive learning environment Familiarity with Montessori teaching methods and philosophy is not necessary but preferred
