A Teacher Assistant assists classroom teachers by providing extra individual attention and instruction to students. Helps teachers with recordkeeping, preparation for lessons and activities and supervising students. May work with special education students, or work in a school library or computer lab; may be called teacher aide or paraprofessional.

Responsibilities include:
Assist the Lead Teacher with daily lesson plans and classroom activities. Provide attentive care, including diapering, bottle feeding, comforting children, and helping with nap routines. Engage children through play, music, movement, stories, and hands-on learning. Maintain active supervision and ensure a safe, nurturing environment. Build positive relationships with children and their families. Serve snacks and meals. Help keep classrooms clean, organized, and inviting. Before & After School Assistant Teacher Position Support elementary-aged children before and after school through fun, engaging activities that encourage learning and friendship.
