Job Description

The Student Support Assistant plays a crucial role in providing administrative and logistical support to counseling professionals at Stark State College. This position will assist counselors in ensuring the smooth operation of counseling programs, handling administrative tasks, providing support to students seeking assistance, and providing referrals to community partners. This is a grant-funded, part-time temporary position.

Great Fit If:
You are skilled in managing and maintaining students records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality. You enjoy assisting students with completing intake forms, completing paperwork, and providing initial information to students regarding counseling services, procedures, and available resources. You possess great skill in compiling data and generating reports related to counseling activities, such as student demographics, attendance, and outcomes. You are comfortable participating in team meetings and providing input and feedback on program development and improvement initiatives.
Typical Responsibilities Include:
Managing and maintaining student records Scheduling appointments and follow-up sessions in accordance with counselor availability Handling phone calls, emails, and other correspondence, directing inquiries to the appropriate counselor or community referral Providing initial information to students regarding counseling services, procedures, and available resources Assisting with presentations or group sessions Assisting with fostering community partnerships for facilitating campus referrals
To Be Considered You'll Need:
A minimum of an associate's degree in psychology, counseling, social work, or related field. A Bachelor's degree in same is preferred. Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in a counseling or mental health setting Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and empathetic demeanor Proficiency in basic computer applications such as Microsoft Office Site and electronic health record systems Knowledge of ethical and legal guidelines governing counseling practices and client confidentiality Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a collaborative team Click here to view the full job description details.
