A Teacher Assistant assists classroom teachers by providing extra individual attention and instruction to students. Helps teachers with recordkeeping, preparation for lessons and activities and supervising students. May work with special education students, or work in a school library or computer lab; may be called teacher aide or paraprofessional.

Job Description
Job Summary Help ensure a safe learning environment Assist in implementing lesson plans and positive behavior strategies tailored to Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Prepare instructional materials and record student progress Support students with mobility, physical needs, and personal care—including feeding, toileting, and transportation assistance Provide classroom coverage for absent staff working with students with multiple disabilities Help operate classroom equipment as needed Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required Must hold or be eligible for an Ohio Department of Education Aide Permit Previous experience working with children with disabilities is a plus Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Valid Driver's License or State ID required, along with reliable and insured transportation Employment is contingent upon passing a urinalysis drug screening, and BCI screen. Working Conditions This role may involve exposure to bloodborne pathogens, communicable diseases, potentially infectious materials, and occasional aggressive behavior. Employees are expected to follow established safety protocols and use protective equipment and decontamination procedures in accordance with Ohio Employment Risk Reduction Standards.
