JOB SUMMARY
The Teacher Assistant assists in the planning, implementing, and organizing of the daily experiences for children. The Teacher Assistant is to promote parent involvement. The Teacher Assistant should help maintain appropriate documentation regarding the progress of children, contact with families, and classroom activities. The Teacher Assistant will conduct activities to ensure compliance with all Head Start rules and regulations, licensing laws and all funding source regulations. The Teacher Assistant acts in a professional manner at all times.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Implement the CACEHR Head Start Curriculum according to its design and the Head Start Performance Standards. 2. Assist in the development of weekly lesson plans to include activities to address all developmental domains. 3. Complete and enter observation into Teaching Strategies Gold concerning children growth within the mandated timelines. 4. Identify and report any suspected abuse and/or neglect to program's designated personnel. 5. Help maintain a safe, clean, and healthy classroom environment. 6. Participate in two home visits and two parent conferences per year with teacher or designee. 7. Promote parent involvement and encourage parent participation in program activities. 8. Assist Teacher with monthly reports. 9. Complete attendance on children when children enter and departs classroom. 10. Assist in generating and tracking In-Kind. Complete Inkind forms & turn in weekly. 11. Utilize technology to enhance capacity of agency. 12. Attend in-service training and other professional training opportunities as assigned by Supervisor. Must understand community action and is committed to agency culture; acts as a role model. 15. Be effective at team building and creating positive morale. 16. Maintain the confidentiality of privileged information. 17. Be familiar with and understand the agency's mission, strategic plan, goals and measures. 18. Maintain a neat, clean professional appearance and demeanor at all times; and exercise good health habits related to personal hygiene. 19. All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Site Administrator.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/EXPECTATIONS
1. Must have a High School Diploma or GED. 2. Minimum of one-year work experience and career path in an early childhood program required. 3. Must be willing to obtain Child Development Associate Credential or any further training, as required. 4. Must possess excellent written and interpersonal communication skills and strong organizational skills. 5. Must have computer experience and knowledge of all other office equipment. 6. Exhibit knowledge of business communication; must have excellent spelling and grammar skills. 7. Must have an understanding and awareness of the needs of low-income families. 8. Must have current certification in First Aid/CPR, Common Childhood Illnesses and Child Abuse Recognition and Prevention. 9. Willing to travel out-of town and overnight for training. 10. Must have access to operational automobile on a daily basis and proof of liability insurance. 11. Physical exam, background check and pre-employment and random drug screen, as required.
