Job Description
Job Overview We are hiring for all 7 elementaries in Sylvania School District. Join our vibrant team as a Before & After-School Program Assistant, where your enthusiasm and dedication will help create a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for children. In this role, you will support youth development by supervising children during after-school hours, facilitating fun and educational activities, and ensuring their well-being through attentive childcare. Your energy and positive attitude will inspire young learners to explore, grow, and thrive in a structured yet lively setting. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on children's lives while developing valuable skills in youth engagement and program management. Responsibilities Be able to work a morning shift 6:15am-9am or an afternoon shift 3pm-6pm Supervise children during before-school and after-school hours, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times. Lead and facilitate age-appropriate activities, including arts and crafts, sports, games, and educational projects that promote childhood development. Manage classroom behavior using positive behavior management techniques to foster a respectful and inclusive environment. Assist with homework help and tutoring to support academic growth and confidence among participants. Maintain clear communication with parents, guardians, and team members regarding children's progress and any concerns. Implement first aid protocols when necessary, including administering basic first aid or CPR to children in case of minor injuries or emergencies. Support outdoor work activities such as sports coaching or outdoor games that encourage physical activity and teamwork. Qualifications Prior experience working with children in settings such as daycare, camp programs, youth groups, or similar environments is highly preferred. Knowledge of childhood development principles and behavior management strategies. Certification in first aid, CPR, AED operation, or willingness to obtain these certifications upon hire. Strong classroom management skills combined with the ability to handle diverse needs of children with patience and professionalism. Experience facilitating youth programs or leading group activities is a plus. Ability to work outdoors comfortably during active play sessions or outdoor outings. Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with staff, parents, and children's guardians.
