Job Description

We are currently looking for a Full Time Teacher Assistant to join our Early Childhood Center Ardmore team located at the Ardmore Head Start working .
Summary:
Assists in providing quality child care services in a secure, loving environment that promotes development for all children.
Responsibilities:
  • Immediately reports any potential health and well-being concerns of students required by law
  • Assists teacher with student home visits twice a year
  • Attends parent meetings and policy council meetings
  • Drives or monitors on school bus routes, field trips, and other events
  • Assist in preparation of lesson planning and execution of classroom activities
  • Following prescribed guidelines of the teacher, aids in instructing preschool children in a variety of academic and developmental areas such as music, art, language and cognitive skills, nutrition, health, culture and organized play using a variety of teaching methods
  • Responsible for children's safety and well-being inside and outside of facilities and at all activities
  • Learns and instructs students in basic Chickasaw language vocabulary
  • Responsible for keeping the classroom clean and free from clutter
  • Responsible for maintaining and submitting in-kind documentation
  • Assists with on-going monitoring of the systems and services of the program including individual goal observations for children
  • Completes 15 hours of professional development training per year
  • Responsible for monitoring student's health needs and contacting parents when child is observed to be ill
  • Aids in ensuring classroom and playground facilities and equipment are safe for children and removes potential hazards or reports them to center supervisor
  • Assists in monitoring daily attendance
  • Utilizes the computerized child tracking system as directed
  • Provides first class customer service to both internal and external customers and responds to inquiries, compliments, and/or complaints with professionalism, courtesy, and efficiency
  • Completes all training and development requirements and participates in continuing education opportunities
  • Works in a collaborative and supportive manner to support the productivity and safety of the work area, team members and customers of all types
  • Maintains a clean, organized work area and ensures a safe environment
  • Maintains and promotes professionalism
  • Punctual and consistent in meeting start time, work schedule, attendance and other assigned work time metrics
  • Adheres to Chickasaw Nation dress code standards
  • Maintains knowledge of and follows all rules, regulations, policies and guidelines for assigned area
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

  • High School, GED or Equivalent
  • Associates Degree in directly related field

  • Associates degree in Early childhood or related field or minimum of 30 hours of completed higher education course work with continuing education toward degree completion upon hiring
Credentials:

  • Pass general background check
  • Standard Driver's License
  • CDL Class B with School Bus endorsement
