Job Description

General Description The Program Assistant will assist the Higher Education Program Coordinator with the Career Training Scholarship Program, Stole and Commendation Program, and the Trust Scholarships. The assistant will be responsible for answering incoming calls, request and collect all required data for the processing of all incoming applications, explaining the need for such documentation, and determining the eligibility of applicants. The Program Assistant will also provide support to all programs within the Education Department and assist with programs that include outreach services. Qualifications Associate's Degree in Education, Psychology, Business or closely related field is required; Bachelor's degree preferred Work experience in a similar work environment in lieu of education may be considered At least 3 to 5 years of work experience in a similar work environment is required Requires demonstrated language, grammar and spelling skills Must be willing to travel and attend parent meetings as needed Must have the ability to teach parent/student/teacher workshops Requires flexibility in working hours Requires the use of personal vehicle Requires knowledge of efficient office-procedures Requires demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, Access, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint or similar programs Must have excellent Internet and email skills Requires effective telephone communication skills Ability to work with the public Must maintain a professional attitude and appearance that positively represents the Nation Must be able to work well with students Must be willing to conduct and teach activities to children Must be willing to supervise students Requires a high level of personal integrity and ethics Requires a high level of problem solving skills Must maintain confidentiality at all times Requires good interpersonal communication and team work skills Requires willingness and ability to learn new skills, including travel to conferences and training sessions Must be able to pass a criminal background check; OSBI and fingerprints Must be able to pass drug/alcohol testing Must have a clean driving record - may be required to drive GSA or tribal vehicles
