Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED Diploma Reports to: Assigned Teacher, Principal, and/ or Assistant Principal
Performance Responsibilities:
Works cooperatively with the library media specialist in the implementation of the instructional program. Works to help children achieve success and develop positive feelings about themselves and school. Serves as model in developing children's language and behavior. Assists in preparing for library instruction (collecting and/or creating resource materials, manipulatives, visual and other teaching aids). Assists instruction by operating supportive equipment, directing games and singing, reading and telling stories, supervising testing and make-up work and assisting on field trips. Assists in supervising such activities as playground, fire drills, lunchroom, field trips, car riders, bus loading and individual or small group activities, snack, toilet and clothing routines and any duties needed during the contract day. Assists a substitute teacher in the same manner that the regular teacher would be assisted. Assists library media specialist in maintaining library collection and circulation. Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities and/or self-selected professional growth activities. Maintains professional and cooperative relationships with teachers, colleagues, patrons, students, and administrators. Maintains confidentiality. Abides by all district, state and federal laws, policies and procedures. Performs other duties as requested by the Supervisor.
Terms of Employment:
Number of calendar days and compensation based on approved compensation schedule and employee work calendars
Evaluation:
Evaluation by Principal or Assistant Principal in accordance with BOE policy
Physical Demands:
Ability to routinely and continually bend, squat, stand, walk, or climb stairs. Ability to lift up to 20 pounds. Ability to do outside duties in inclement weather.
