Growth opportunities Position Summary The Tier 2 Flexible Intervention Paraeducator provides academic and social-emotional support to students who require additional assistance beyond core classroom instruction within a Montessori learning environment. Working collaboratively with classroom guides, intervention specialists and admin, the paraeducator facilitates individual interventions, monitors student progress, and helps ensure that students develop the skills necessary to succeed independently in the Montessori setting. The paraeducator in the flexible support role will be expected to assist students during high emotional moments typically outside the classroom and assist with emotional regulation and classroom re-entry. The ideal candidate understands child-centered education, values individualized learning, and is committed to fostering student confidence, independence, and belonging. Essential ResponsibilitiesTier 2 Academic Intervention Support Facilitate small-group intervention sessions in literacy, mathematics, executive functioning, and other identified areas of need. Support emotional regulation during high crisis moments for students. Implement intervention plans developed by classroom guides, learning specialists, and intervention teams. Support students in applying intervention skills within the Montessori classroom environment. Assist with progress monitoring, and collection of student performance data. Build positive, respectful relationships with students while promoting independence and self-advocacy. Assist students in developing organization, attention, self-regulation, and problem-solving skills. Support students' social-emotional development through positive behavior support strategies. Montessori Environment Support Uphold Montessori philosophy and practices in all interactions with students. Encourage student choice, responsibility, and independence while providing appropriate scaffolding. Support a respectful, inclusive, and culturally responsive school community. QualificationsRequired High school diploma or equivalent. Experience working with children in educational, childcare, or youth development settings. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work effectively with diverse learners and maintain confidentiality. Ability to follow instructional plans and collect student data accurately. Preferred Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Education, Child Development, Psychology, Special Education, or a related field. Experience supporting intervention programs, special education services, or multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS). Knowledge of Montessori philosophy and practices. Experience facilitating small-group instruction. Training in literacy or math intervention programs. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Understanding of child development and differentiated instruction. Ability to build trusting relationships with students and families. Strong observational and documentation skills. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Commitment to equity, inclusion, and student-centered learning. Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic school environment. Physical Requirements Ability to move throughout classrooms and outdoor learning spaces.
