The Elementary Instructional Support Teacher provides targeted academic support to elementary students through small-group and individualized instruction, with a primary focus on reading and mathematics . This position works collaboratively with classroom teachers and school leadership to identify student needs, implement effective interventions, monitor student progress, and provide documentation of student growth. The ideal candidate is passionate about helping students build confidence and academic independence, knowledgeable about differentiated instruction, comfortable using technology, and skilled at using student data to guide instruction. Primary Responsibilities Small-Group Academic Instruction Provide targeted, small-group instruction in reading and mathematics based on individual student needs. Develop and implement differentiated lessons and interventions that address specific academic skill gaps. Use research-based instructional strategies and multisensory approaches when appropriate. Adjust instruction based on student performance, progress-monitoring data, and classroom needs. Support students in developing confidence, independence, and effective learning strategies. Collaborate with classroom teachers to ensure instructional support aligns with grade-level curriculum and classroom expectations. Student Support Plans & Documentation Develop and maintain Student Support Plans for students requiring additional academic support. Identify specific areas of need and establish measurable academic goals. Collaborate with classroom teachers, families, and school administration as appropriate when developing and reviewing support plans. Maintain accurate and organized records of student interventions, accommodations, and progress. Progress Monitoring & Data Collection Regularly collect and analyze student data to monitor academic growth. Maintain data-tracking systems for reading and math interventions. Prepare progress reports documenting student performance, growth, and ongoing areas of need. Use data to determine whether interventions should be continued, adjusted, or modified. Communicate student progress and concerns with classroom teachers and appropriate school personnel. Technology & Digital Learning Utilize educational technology to enhance instruction, intervention, assessment, and progress monitoring. Maintain digital records and documentation using school-approved platforms. Demonstrate proficiency with common educational technology, including Google Workspace, digital assessment tools, student information systems, and other instructional platforms. Be willing to learn and implement new technology as needed. Collaboration Work closely with classroom teachers to identify students who may benefit from additional academic support. Participate in student support meetings and other collaborative planning opportunities. Communicate effectively and professionally with teachers, administrators, and families. Contribute to a positive, collaborative school environment. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, Elementary Education, or a related field. Valid teaching certification preferred/required according to school requirements. Experience working with elementary-aged students. Strong knowledge of reading and mathematics instruction and intervention strategies. Experience with differentiated or individualized instruction preferred. Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills. Ability to collect, interpret, and use student data to guide instruction. Comfortable using educational technology and digital documentation systems. Ability to work collaboratively with classroom teachers and school leadership.
