Qualifications:
Bachelors level degree in education required Valid PA Special Education Certificate (7-12 or N-12) required ; Valid PA Instructional Certificate also required if Special Ed Cert is 7-12 Valid PA Instructional Certificate in Secondary Science highly preferred Experience teaching science preferred Experience with secondary students preferred Experience working with children and adolescents with severe and complex behavior challenges in school, community, or residential setting preferred Current police, child abuse & FBI fingerprint clearances requiredDuties & Responsibilities:
Instruct individuals and groups in special education skill and subject areas Plan curriculum, lessons, and special education programs and teaching methods Evaluate and monitor student progress based on classroom performance, test scores, and observation of behavior Support objectives and interventions of the educational program Maintain safe physical environment of the classroom Maintain contact with parents of students and/or professionals concerning student progress When appropriate, develop IEPs addressing specific academic, behavioral, and speech needs of students Prepare report cards, educational records, classroom observation records, and other documentation as required Function as integral member of treatment/IEP team, addressing needs of students Salary- 2026-2027 School Year (Professional): $62,155

Schedule:
5 days per week, 7.5 hours per day. 194 days per year for new professional employees/191 days for professional staff in year two/190 days in all subsequent years. 7:45 AM- 3:15

The Learning Center is a middle school/high school that serves students ages 13-22 that have been unsuccessful in their home districts. All the students that attend the Learning Center have IEPs.Options Program:
The Options Program works with students experiencing mental health issues who demonstrate an interest and desire to learn but who are reluctant to receive mental health services. These students are provided the skills to work cooperatively with their peers. They learn to deal with everyday issues at their ability level and the educational staff provides individual attention, both when dealing with the academics and behaviors.
