Paraprofessional / 1:1
Student Support Aide Hours:
6.5 hours per day; Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM - 4:00
PM Compensation:
Budgeted hours per day: 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM (6.5 working hours)
Job Description:
This role involves working 1-on-1 with students to provide targeted behavior and academic support, assisting in the implementation of effective educational programs as assigned by case managers. The successful candidate will assist in providing instruction and meeting a range of special needs, which may include feeding assistance, toileting, positioning, and monitoring the health conditions of students with disabilities. This position requires an individual with experience working with students exhibiting challenging behaviors. Experience within school-based learning support and autistic support elementary classrooms is highly desired.
Essential Functions May Include:
Providing instruction to individuals in a variety of areas as directed by the classroom teacher, including cognitive, gross and fine motor skills, feeding skills, self-help skills, and behavior control. Assisting the teacher in maintaining a healthy and safe environment for physically handicapped students by monitoring potential hazards. Assisting students with personal hygiene, including washing hands and faces, toileting, and changing diapers and clothing as needed. Monitoring and controlling student behavior in accordance with established guidelines and implementing positive behavior intervention support policies. Assisting other specialists with physical development activities and preparing students for mainstreamed classes according to established procedures. Assisting students with braces and other orthopedic equipment; lifting, positioning, and repositioning students as needed. Assisting the teacher in maintaining a variety of records related to student progress. Collaborating with case workers, general education teachers, and other staff as needed. Assisting students in social interactions and working cooperatively with others and independently as needed. Attending periodic and special training and in-services related to medical interventions and instructional programs as required. Performing other duties similar to the above in scope and function as required.
Education, Experience, and Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent required (Diploma or Transcripts of highest Education needed for file). Must have prior experience working with children, students, or general caregiving of any age.
Preferred Experience:
Experience with Autistic Support, Special Education, or Behavioral Health/Mental Health settings. A First Aid Certificate including CPR certification is required (must be obtained before the start date).
Credentialing Requirements:
