Job Description
Job description: An individual who provides one-to-one Teaching Assistant to a student , including support and assistance in the use of medical equipment, for example; augmentative communication devices; activities of daily living; and monitoring health and behavior. Responsibilities of the 1 to 1 Teaching Assistant- Paraprofessional role: Evaluating student progress. Provide written input on designated student as requested. Communicating with parents, staff and non- professionals in coordination with classroom staff and supervisor, when requested. Assists in recording and reporting behavior data for assigned student. Assists in assigned classrooms with individual, small and large group instruction as directed by and coordinated with teacher. Provides individualized instruction and supervision for student(s) on and off-campus in areas assigned by supervisor and teaching staff Assists teacher in daily organizational planning, as requested. Organizing classroom furniture and equipment. Supervises student(s) to ensure safety at all times, including bus duty, playground duty and off campus. Supervises classroom in absence of teacher when needed or instructed by supervisor. Implements individual and classroom behavior programs as coordinated with other staff. Assists in other general areas such as: toileting, feeding, and other relevant tasks as assigned by teacher.
