Job Description

We are seeking a Paraprofessional (PCA) for a part-time, 1:1 support role providing educational and behavioral support to a student with special needs in the Fort Washington, PA area. This position is part of the Extended School Year (ESY) program, running from July 1 through August 6, with a schedule of Monday-Thursday, 8:30 AM-1:30 PM. The Paraprofessional will work closely with school staff and specialists throughout the school day to support academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs. This role requires someone patient and experienced in managing challenging behaviors. A male candidate is strongly preferred, though a female candidate with extensive behavioral experience will also be considered. Strong candidates will be considered for a full-time role during the 2026-2027 school year.
Qualifications:
Must have at minimum a High School Diploma 1-2 years of school-based PCA experience preferred, but not required Associate's or Bachelor's degree strongly preferred Must be at least 18 years old Must have up-to-date clearances (from within one year) Must have a valid CPR/First Aid certificate Current TB test and Physical Must have reliable transportation
Responsibilities:
Supervise and support the student throughout the school day in both classroom and non-classroom settings, including transitions, lunch, afternoon activities, and break times Help manage challenging behaviors and support students in crisis to keep a safe and structured environment Help maintain a safe, organized classroom and follow the behavior support program, including PBIS expectations Record and document student behavior, including behavior notes, incident reports, and other required forms Support students during learning activities and encourage participation and engagement Follow and implement accommodations and supports listed in the student's IEP Assist the teacher with planning, preparation, teaching, and assessment of lessons and behavior goals Communicate and work with the teacher, parents/guardians, and other team members as needed Help maintain a positive, structured classroom environment that supports learning Take part in required training and use learned strategies in daily work At Humanus, we are devoted to making a difference and improving the lives of others.
