Job Description
Pre K Counts assistant/Floater /6 hours/day Monday to Friday. Education (must have one of the following) High School Diploma or GED and 30 credits from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, Elementary Education or Human Services field High School Diploma or GED and 600 or more hours of secondary training from DHS approved school High School Diploma or GED and 15 credits from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, Elementary Education or Human Services field and 1 year of experience with children High School Diploma or GED and completion of an approved post-secondary training curriculum High School Diploma or GED and 2 years of experience with children Personal Interest in children and willingness to learn References and recommendations Able to relate well to children and adults Current health appraisal Current Clearances Basic Function The Assistant teacher will work with and support the lead teacher in all aspects of center activities to ensure the learning, health, safety and general well-being of the children in their care. Performance Responsibilities Should include but not limited to: Assisting in the implementation of the daily activities under the guidance of the lead teacher Helping to supervise the children during all activities Talking and actively playing with the children at appropriate times Leading the group when the teacher is not present Setting up breakfast, lunch and snack Cleaning and sanitizing the tables after meals Helping children with their hygiene (hand washing, toileting, diapering, etc.) Taking all trash from the room to the dumpster at the end of their shift Ensuring the safety of the children at all times Maintaining the playground and/or pavilion as needed Treating each child with dignity and respect Maintaining discipline by following center policies Maintaining a positive relationship with the parents through effective communication Attending mandatory staff meetings Cooperating with parents, staff and other adults to ensure the children's needs are met Attending mandatory trainings and certifications Physical Demands Medium lifting, up to 50 pounds Activity including but not limited to: climbing, balancing, kneeling, stooping, crawling, sitting and standing Activity including but not limited to: reaching, handling and feeling Organizational Responsibilities The Assistant reports to the Lead teacher and/or the
