The Hoffman Academy is a nurturing, child-centered program dedicated to providing high-quality learning experiences that foster curiosity, creativity, and growth for students Preschool through 12th grade. We use restorative practices to build and repair relationships, and we implement Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) to proactively guide children toward success. By combining these approaches, we help children develop essential social-emotional skills while fostering a joyful love of learning. We are seeking a passionate and visionary Instructional Support Teacher to join our team, strengthen our school community, and ensure that restorative practices and PBIS are woven into every aspect of our program, and support our students and teachers with understanding and implementation of these practices. Position Summary The Instructional Support Teacher supports daily operations of instructional environments including classrooms, gymnasium and cafeteria, ensures compliance with state guidelines for rigorous instruction, and provides instructional coverage for teacher absences. This role emphasizes cultivating a restorative culture and embedding PBIS strategies across the school community to promote positive behavior, resilience, and growth, while covering classroom instruction for teachers and online electives. This positions also provide supervision and support for lunch rotations in the cafeteria. This is a Full-Time position that is scheduled around the school calendar. Key Responsibilities Implement lesson plans left by the classroom teacher. Deliver instruction using appropriate teaching strategies. Monitor student understanding and provide assistance as needed. Adapt instruction when necessary while remaining aligned with the teacher's objectives. Maintain instructional momentum and maximize learning time. Use classroom technology and instructional materials appropriately. Establish and maintain a safe, orderly, and respectful learning environment. Enforce school and classroom rules consistently. Manage student behavior using approved school discipline procedures. Address minor conflicts and redirect inappropriate behavior appropriately. Promote positive student engagement and participation. Supervise students at all assigned times, including: Arrival and dismissal Hallways Lunch periods Recess Transitions between classes Follow all emergency procedures, including fire drills, lockdowns, evacuations, and medical emergencies. Report safety concerns immediately to administration. Ensure students are accounted for at all times. Take accurate attendance according to school procedures. Record student participation and work completion. Leave detailed notes for the regular teacher regarding: Lessons completed Student behavior Academic progress Students requiring follow-up Any incidents or concerns Arrive on time and prepared for the school day. Maintain confidentiality regarding students and families in accordance with FERPA and school policy. Follow all school policies, procedures, and staff expectations. Dress professionally. Communicate respectfully with students, staff, and families. Demonstrate flexibility when assignments change. Communicate effectively with administrators and support staff. Seek clarification when lesson plans or procedures are unclear. Work cooperatively with paraprofessionals, special education staff, counselors, and related service providers. Support inclusive classroom practices and student accommodations as directed. Model and support restorative practices to promote relationship-building, problem-solving, and conflict resolution. Guide the use of PBIS strategies to proactively encourage positive behaviors and social-emotional learning. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in education, or a related field. Proven experience implementing restorative practices and PBIS in educational settings. Preferred experience working with special education regulations and possess a strong knowledge of best practices in academic and behavior interventions. Excellent organizational, communication, and conflict-resolution skills. Commitment to equity, inclusion, and family engagement.
