W2 Security Assistant Teacher - After-School Program Position Overview We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Assistant Teacher to support our after-school program serving 3rd to 5th grade students. The ideal candidate will provide classroom support, assist with daily student transportation, and help foster a welcoming, high-quality learning environment that promotes academic achievement and life skills development. This position also offers the opportunity to transition into a summer camp Assistant role. Key Responsibilities Create and nurture a welcoming, supportive, and cooperative environment for children, parents, and staff Assist with daily transportation of students, including driving a van, serving as a van aide, or walking to and from local schools Assist the Lead Teacher in daily implementation of lesson plans and classroom activities, including working with children one-on-one or in small groups Track student usage of literacy programs and maintain orderly classroom management Plan and implement lessons and activities in the Lead Teacher's absence Assist with set-up and clean-up at after-school mealtime Supervise students during field trips Participate in required professional development programs, staff meetings, and parent meetings Qualifications Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education, Human Services, or a related field; or equivalent experience (minimum 2 years); proof of education (diploma or transcript) required Minimum 1 year of validated childcare experience Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and parents Awareness of the developmental needs of elementary school-aged children Preferred Qualifications Valid driver's license and clean driving record Experience planning lessons and activities for school-aged children Experience working within and supporting communities directly affected by systemic racism Requirements Must pass all required background checks and screenings Ability to meet physical demands of active childcare work — walking, climbing stairs, kneeling, driving where applicable, and exerting up to 20 lbs of force occasionally
