Job Description

The Special Education Administrative Assistant provides confidential, high-level administrative and operational support to the District's Special Education Administrative Office. This position assists with the daily coordination of departmental functions, including maintaining student and departmental records, scheduling meetings, preparing correspondence and reports, processing purchase orders and invoices, managing calendars, responding to inquiries, and supporting accurate data entry and documentation. The Administrative Assistant works closely with Special Education administrators, school-based teams, families, service providers, and outside agencies to ensure timely communication and efficient departmental operations. The position also supports compliance-related timelines, meeting preparation, recordkeeping, and required submissions while maintaining strict confidentiality of student, employee, and departmental information. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, professionalism, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. This position plays an essential role in supporting department leaders and school teams as they provide appropriate programs and services to students in accordance with District procedures and applicable federal and state requirements.

Requirements:

Associate degree or postsecondary coursework in business administration, office administration, education, human services, or a related field. Administrative experience in a public school district, education agency, government office, or other regulated service environment. Experience supporting special education programs or working with student records, compliance timelines, purchasing, budgeting, or state reporting. Experience with Microsoft Office Applications and Google Suite preferred
