OBJECTIVE
This position is responsible for providing secretarial and clerical support to the Special Education Department
REPORTS TO
Director of Special Education
JOB DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary responsibility of the special education clerical assistant is maintaining student special education files. This includes filing all student special education documents, report cards and attendance for students on and off campus. Process records requests for new and current special education students Maintain data and files for ACCESS billing, including transportation logs Identify evaluations to be billed for ACCESS Reception duties for Blue Center including, but not limited to answering door, department phone, processing mail, making copies Provide support to special education department, including but not limited to school psychologists, paras, teachers, administrators and office staff Attend training with providers and medical access for personal care Knowledge of special education procedures and policies Communicate with teachers and parents Other duties as assigned Qualifications Knowledge of Special Education required One year of successful office environment experience, required Ability to operate computer software packages such as Microsoft Office and student management systems required Understanding of general accounting procedures and office management Strong communication skills with emphasis on the ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form Able to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and work under pressure Excellent customer service skills Ability to work as part of a team Demonstrate strong organizational and logistic skills in day-to-day operations and long range planning Strong commitment to total quality standards Ability to be flexible and perform other tasks as assigned Ability to lead projects from inception to implementation Basic knowledge of office machines, printer, FAX machine and copier Sitting for extended period of time Ability to kneel, crouch, bend and reach Ability to lift and carry materials and supplies up to 20 lbs Ability to speak clearly and distinctly when communicating Hearing clearly Adequate vision to perform duties Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle
