POSITION SPECIFICS
The Department of Curriculum and Instruction in Penn State's College of Education seeks an Assistant Teaching Professor to teach, advise, and provide program coordination for its highly successful World Campus (online) Children's Literature program. This non-tenure track 42-week position includes four assignments per semester and one in summer, encompassing a blend of teaching, advising, and administrative responsibilities. Collaborating with Program Coordinator to determine administrative responsibilities, which may include: Coordinating course offering for the online Children's Literature courses. Overseeing/facilitating application reviews for the Children's Literature path in collaboration with the Children's Literature advising group. Assignment of advisors Submitting annual program assessment report for the Certificate using Nuventive. Every five years overseeing the curricular affairs process to renew the Graduate Certificate in Children's Literature program Additional responsibilities will include: Teaching online and residential courses in Children's Literature, for example, (Doing Research in Children's Literature, Theories of Childhood, Nonfiction Literature for Children and Adolescents, Fantasy Literature for Children, and Myths and Folktales in Children's Literature) Advising M.Ed. students including course advising and overseeing of Masters degree project Attending meetings Regular email, phone, and/or Zoom contact with potential and existing students, including recruitment, trouble shooting, answering questions, etc.
Required qualifications:
A Ph.D. or Ed.

D. in education, children's literature, or related and eligibility for Graduate Faculty Status Ability to advise M.Ed. students Strong organization skills Strong interpersonal skills Ability to design and revise asynchronous courses using Canvas or ability to learn this skill Ability to teach specialized online courses in Children's Literature Applicants should submit: A letter of application documenting interest in and qualifications for the position A current curriculum vitae/resume Three references including mail addresses and telephone numbers For more information, contact Dr. Jason Griffith at jjg5321@psu.edu
