About The Dog Library The Dog Library is a Long Beach, California-based small business built around evidence-based education for dog owners. Our flagship program, Reactive Dog Reset, is an online course grounded in peer-reviewed research and designed to help dog owners understand and compassionately manage reactivity. We also run community pack walks using our proprietary SPACE Protocol, which is a structured, low-pressure group walk framework developed specifically for reactive dogs. This is a small operation with a big mission. You'll work closely with the founder and be expected to genuinely understand and contribute to what we're building. The Role We're looking for a part-time assistant to help run our community pack walks, support online community engagement and content creation, and assist with upkeep of an outdoor filming and content location. This is a hands-on role that requires genuine interest in dog behavior, comfort around anxious or reactive dogs, and the kind of warm, calm presence that puts both dogs and their owners at ease. Pack walks take place in Long Beach and surrounding areas (Lakewood, Cerritos) once a week on weekday evenings, most commonly Tuesdays or Wednesdays between 6-7pm, with occasional Mondays or Thursdays. What You'll Do Pack Walk Program (2.5 hrs/week) Assist with setup, facilitation, and wrap-up of weekly community pack walks for reactive dog owners Help create a welcoming, calm environment for attendees and their dogs, greeting participants, answering basic questions, and keeping group energy friendly but low-key Review Reactive Dog Reset course content thoroughly so you can speak knowledgeably with attendees Record video clips and take photos during walks for use in social media and course content Eventually lead an additional weekend monthly walk independently once you're fully comfortable with our protocols Online Community Engagement & Content Support (5 hrs/week) Assist with content creation tasks including recording video, capturing behind-the-scenes material, and supporting the founder's content workflow Participate in online dog owner communities Outdoor Content Location Upkeep (2 hrs/week) Assist with maintaining a garden space used as a filming and photography backdrop for course and social media content Tasks may include weeding, watering, planting, and general upkeep. Training provided Opportunity to take on this responsibility independently over time Who We're Looking For Genuinely interested in dog behavior, particularly reactivity, fear, and anxiety. You don't need to be a trainer, but you should care Comfortable and calm around reactive, anxious, or unpredictable dogs Warm and socially at ease with strangers; able to make nervous dog owners feel welcome Committed to force-free, compassionate handling methods Reliable and self-directed once given clear direction Comfortable using a smartphone to record video and photograph Have reliable personal transportation. Pack walks take place at various Long Beach locations
