A Teacher Assistant assists classroom teachers by providing extra individual attention and instruction to students. Helps teachers with recordkeeping, preparation for lessons and activities and supervising students. May work with special education students, or work in a school library or computer lab; may be called teacher aide or paraprofessional.

Job Summary:
Empoderarnos (Empowering Ourselves) incorporates a holistic and sustainable way of action in order to completely serve our farmworker communities. We seek to mend the gap between basic necessities, community and cultural connectivity, and long term health. This is done through multilingual, culturally representative programming that listens first and consistently follows through.
We currently do:
Direct to camp, field, and housing distributions Community resource events Safe resource connectivity and the building of a Safe resource handbook Direct family/individual support We are hoping to build/improve: Small resource center in downtown Woodburn Currently working on Food Sovereignty for Farmworkers through Farmworker specific community gardens And an increase in direct family/individual support and systems navigation support The Program Assistant for Empoderarnos assists with program activities, participates in Farmworker resources distributions, works directly with individuals and families, and actively works with their team to listen to community needs and deliver them. This position has predetermined responsibilities and activities, but we fully encourage creative thinking and diverse ideas to change and improve the program and Emerging Unidos as a whole.

Responsibilities:
Assists Program Coordinator and Systems Navigator with direct family support, resource distributions, community outreach, and more Support needs of other Program Staff when necessary Non-supervisory peer to peer accountability Distributes necessary information to Navigation Assistor Utilizes case notes, participant tracking, and inventory keeping Works personally with individuals and families to meet their specific needs Assists with community partnership development Picks up, transports, unloads, stores, and sets up event materials Keeps accurate case notes and tracking information of program recipients/participants Helps maintains organization of Empoderarnos supplies in storage Brainstorms and organizes ways to serve Farmworker communities Works with team to implement improvements to program structure Regularly meets and communicates openly with organization/program staff Helps create outreach materials with Social Media and Canva Accurately/honestly report activities, mileage, and hours worked
Required Skills/Abilities:
Familiarity with the Farmworker communities in Marion/Polk county and in depth understanding of the Farmworker experience Openness to learning Google Suite knowledge (particularly Sheets and Docs) Strong communication skills Ability to speak/read/write fluent Spanish and English Preferred drivers license (not required)
Education/Experience/identities:
Life experience as a Farmworker or experience as a child to a Farmworking family and/or work experience serving Farmworker Communities Latine/o/a/x, BIPOC, and/or LGBTQ2SIA+ identities preferred High school level and above ability to speak, read, and write
Spanish/English Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift at least 50lbs Must be able to carry large tubs/objects in and out of buildings, cars, and fields
