SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Job ResponsibilitiesProvide student-specific nursing support during the school day as directed by the District, delegated in accordance with law, and required by the student's IEP, health plan, physician orders, or related educational documentation.
Serve as the assigned one-to-one paraprofessional/paraprofessional for the student throughout the school day and school-related programming, as directed.
Assist the student with access to instruction, transitions, mobility, safety, organization, communication, behavior support, self-help skills, and participation in the school environment, consistent with the IEP.Monitor the student for health, safety, medical, behavioral, and educational needs and promptly communicate concerns to appropriate certified and administrative staff.
Implement student-specific instructional, behavioral, safety, and health-related plans under the direction of appropriate professional staff.
Maintain appropriate records, logs, data, and documentation as required by the District.
Collaborate with teachers, nurses, therapists, special educators, related service providers, and administrators regarding the student's daily functioning and needs.
Attend training sessions, meetings, and professional development required by the District or necessary to meet student needs, consistent with the collective bargaining agreement.
Assist with toileting, feeding, lifting, positioning, transfers, and other physical care needs when required by the student's program and when permitted by law, training, and District direction.
Utilize de-escalation, health and safety, and crisis response procedures as trained and directed by the District.
Perform other student-specific duties reasonably related to the dual nursing/paraprofessional role, provided such duties are lawful and within the employee's credentials and training.
Assist with the needs of the building when the student is absentSuch alternatives to the above qualifications as the Director, Superintendent and/or School Committee may find appropriate.
