Category Schools - Paraprofessional Job Type Contract Exciting opportunities are available for dedicated paraprofessionals eager to make a real impact on students' educational journeys. Two contract openings exist for compassionate individuals who thrive in supportive school environments near Westerly, RI. These roles require candidates to reside on Block Island during the workweek, accommodating the unique ferry schedule. Both positions are full-time and extend through the entire school year, with working hours from 7:50 AM to 2:10 PM. Ideal candidates will bring a genuine passion for helping students and enjoy collaborating with educators to foster a positive learning atmosphere.
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
Experience as a paraprofessional or in a similar educational support role Comfortable providing one-on-one and group assistance to students RBT (Registered Behavior Technician) certification preferred, but not mandatory Adaptable, reliable, and able to work independently as well as part of a team Strong communication and interpersonal skills Commitment to living on Block Island during the workweek, as required by ferry logistics
Responsibilities Will Include:
Position 1: Deliver 1:1 support to a student, accompanied by some additional coverage duties throughout the school day Position 2: Assist within the classroom, working alongside teachers to support all students' learning and engagement Foster a welcoming and supportive classroom climate Provide academic and behavioral support as directed by instructional staff Follow individualized student plans and contribute to daily routines Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical standards at all times A rewarding school-year contract awaits, offering opportunities to build strong relationships with students and staff in a vibrant island community.
