Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Institutional Effectiveness, the Assistant Director of Teaching and Technology collaborates with faculty, subject matter experts, and administrators to support the design, development, and continuous improvement of courses for online, hybrid, and in-person learning environments. The Assistant Director promotes high-quality course design and delivery by advancing the use of instructional technologies, course quality standards, and research-based pedagogical practices.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for administering the instructional components of the learning management system and related educational technologies for use in online, hybrid, and in-person courses. Assist faculty and students with resolving technical issues related to course platforms and educational tools. Troubleshoot problems to ensure minimal disruption to instruction and learning activities. Monitor the performance of instructional systems, identify potential issues, and coordinate or implement updates and enhancements to maintain system functionality and reliability while supporting effective, accessible, and high-quality digital learning environments. Work collaboratively with faculty and cross-departmental stakeholders to support faculty in designing, developing, redesigning, and implementing high-quality academic courses and programs in online, hybrid, and in-person formats, incorporating recognized course design standards, alignment of learning objectives, assessments, and instructional activities, and practices that support continuous improvement. Develop practices and procedures for faculty to ensure alignment of course objectives, assessments, and activities that support successful student attainment of course educational objectives and program student learning outcomes. Provide guidance for curriculum and instructional program development, equipment, and implementation; assess outcomes and make appropriate modifications to enhance cross-functional activities. Manage and maintain quality control measures in the production of high-quality learning materials, ensuring accessibility and usability for diverse learners. Provide training to faculty and staff on technical and pedagogical skills necessary for developing and delivering interactive and engaging activities within the course framework, incorporating research-based practices and recognized course quality standards, including orientation and onboarding support for new faculty related to instructional technologies and course delivery. Support faculty in leveraging available College resources and provide training related to emerging instructional techniques and practices, including but not limited to Artificial Intelligence. Analyze and interpret course effectiveness data and recommend data-driven course revisions to support continuous improvement in course design, delivery, and student learning outcomes. Cultivate and maintain a positive working relationship with all campus colleagues, faculty, and staff. Participate in campus activities, serve on College committees, and perform other duties as assigned. Master's degree in education or another directly related field, and experience in curriculum development. Master's degree in Learning and Design Technology or related field with demonstrated experience in designing and delivering engaging, learner-centered courses in face-to-face, online, and blended formats, proficiency with Learning Management Systems, and experience in designing and delivering faculty training programs is preferred.
