TITLE:
Multilingual Learner Instructional Assistant (Non-Certified; Title I)
LOCATION
Homeland Park Primary School
QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred Interpretation certification preferred Proficient in the use of technology Effective oral and written communication skills in both languages
DESCRIPTION
Candidate will provide support for the MLL program of the school under the direct supervision of the principal and general supervision of the MLL teacher.
REPORTS TO
Principal
RESPONSIBILITIES
Work in tandum with the MLL teacher to provide further supports outside of their already provided instruction by providing targeted academic support to students who speak Spanish and other languages, focusing on enhancing their skills in math and reading. Colaborate with teachers to create an inclusive learning environment with push-in small group instruction that fosters effective understanding of instructional content. Assist students in improving their proficiency in math and through through push-in and pull-out individualized and/or small group instructional based on student needs. Develop and implement instructional strategies that address unique needs of multilingual learners. Monitor and assess student progress and adjust instructional approaches as needed. Provide language services to students, staff, and families of the district Support effective communication between families and schools Assist Spanish-speaking students and their families with the school enrollment process Translate school documents/newsletters and other written communication shared between the school and community Provide oral interpretation for conferences, IEP meetings, and phone calls as needed Contact parents to obtain and/or convey student information Assist in other buildings and district events as needed Assist with the supervision of children during emergency drills, assemblies, and field trips Alert the classroom teacher to any problem or special information about an individual student Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality about students as is expected of certified teachers Inform supervisor immediately when interpreting sensitive and/or reportable issues Participate in professional development as assigned Other responsibilities as assigned
