QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants may be certified or non-certified If non-certified, applicants must have 60 college credits or have successfully passed the ParaPro test Certified Nursing Assistant or Physical Therapy Assistant Preferred

Building Administrator and assigned Teacher(s)

GENERAL SUMMARY

Under direct supervision, provides general teaching assistance to students with special needs. Conducts such duties to support instruction as delivery of small group instruction, taking classroom notes, assisting students to and from class settings, redirection of students to tasks, implementing behavior management plans, monitoring students at all times, and maintaining the confidentiality of students. May use computers in performing assigned tasks. Duties may be specialized to the area of instruction, type of students, etc.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

This is a 1:1 Care Assistant position responsible for assisting with an individual student's personal care, health, safety, mobility, and daily care needs throughout the school day and during school-sponsored activities, including field trips. Provides classroom teaching assistance such as reinforcing skills, monitoring classroom behavior; administering tests to students with identified special needs, implementing Individual Education Plans, etc. Assists student with academic instruction and classroom activities Prepares and disseminates materials for students' use during classroom activities.

Sets up classroom for special activities as assigned, including the preparation of classroom materials for students.

Adjusts special equipment for students use as needed

Accompanies class on field trips as required.

Ensures the safety of the students in the classroom.

Performs other related duties as required.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Conducts duties in an office/school/work environment with no significant exposure to environmental conditions. Physical demands are restricted to office work requiring lifting/moving of items up to 25 pounds. Job requires the operation of standard office equipment.
