Job Description

First ARP Preschool Rock Hill, South Carolina First ARP Preschool is seeking an assistant teacher for the 2026-2027 school year.

The mission for First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Preschool is to demonstrate God's love in Christ by nurturing each child spiritually, intellectually, physically, socially and emotionally in a safe environment. We believe that the church has an important role to play in the education of young children. The influence of a church environment and Christian teachers can have a great impact on young minds. 8:45am-12:45/1:00 pm Teacher contract is for one school year (August through May) Job Description— Assistant Teacher Qualifications Must be a committed Christian. High School Diploma required. Bachelor's degree in education or similar field preferred. Preferred to have a minimum of 1 year experience in preschool education (as shown by a positive reference from a former employer supervisor in the preschool education field) Skill in interpersonal relations with children, parents, teachers/staff Outstanding verbal and written communication skills Must hold and maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications (training provided by the church) and be able to lift and carry 35 pounds. Responsibilities:
Report to the Preschool Director. Assistance with
Daily Lessons:
Help the Lead Teacher prepare classroom materials and lead small group activities as directed. Implement ABC Jesus Loves Me curriculum, as directed by lead teacher.
Behavior Management/Student Support:
Provide positive reinforcement, assist children with personal hygiene and meals, and help resolve peer conflicts. Utilize proactive behavior management strategies at the direction of the lead teacher and Director. Attend weekly chapel, music, library, and story time with students.
Health and Safety:
Supervise and ensure safety and well-being of children at all times. Monitor children during recess, transitions, center play, circle time, and restroom to always ensure their physical safety and well-being. Assist with carrying out safety drills. Maintain a restroom schedule with changing diapers, potty training, and taking children to the restroom.
Classroom Upkeep:
Assist in sanitizing toys, organizing learning centers, and cleaning the classroom. Assist with decorating the classroom bulletin boards.
Family Updates:
Greet parents warmly at drop-off and communicate messages at drop-off to the lead teacher.
Cover Duties:
Temporarily assume the responsibilities of the Lead Teacher in the event of their absence.
Professional Expectations:
Attend staff meetings and Professional Development. Agree to follow policies and procedures outlined in First ARP Preschool Teacher Handbook. Establish and maintain positive relationships with coworkers and church staff.
