Responsibilities Assist classroom teachers with lesson planning, curriculum development, and implementing instructional activities aligned with educational standards such as the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). Provide direct support to students with disabilities, including those with autism spectrum disorders and behavioral challenges, ensuring their needs are met through tailored behavior management strategies. Support students' literacy and math education by facilitating activities that promote foundational skills in reading, writing, and numeracy. Use American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication techniques to enhance communication for students with communication difficulties. Help manage classroom behavior and implement behavior management plans to create a positive learning environment. Assist with physical support for students requiring mobility or other physical assistance, ensuring safety and comfort at all times. Collaborate closely with teachers, special education professionals, therapists, and families to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and adapt instructional methods accordingly. Support classroom routines such as childcare, preschool activities, toddler care, and Montessori-based learning environments. Handle confidential information responsibly while maintaining a respectful and inclusive atmosphere for all students. Experience Prior experience working with children in educational or childcare settings, including preschool or early childhood education environments such as Montessori programs. Demonstrated experience supporting students with disabilities or special education needs within classroom settings. Knowledge of classroom management techniques and behavior management strategies tailored for students with developmental disabilities or behavioral disorders. Familiarity with curriculum development, lesson planning, literacy education, and basic math instruction. Experience working with individuals on the autism spectrum or those requiring behavioral support interventions. Ability to communicate effectively using verbal skills and alternative communication methods like American Sign Language (ASL).
