Job Summary The CTE Teaching Assistant supports middle school students as they explore career pathways. This role assists the lead CTE teacher in managing classroom labs, ensuring safety compliance, and providing instructional support. The goal is to introduce students to foundational technical skills and career readiness. Key Responsibilities InstructionalClassroom Support Guide small student groups during hands-on STEM and vocational projects. Modify learning materials for students with diverse learning needs. Reinforce core academic concepts integrated into the CTE curriculum. Monitor students during independent work, assessments, and lab activities. Lab ManagementSafety Compliance Enforce all Tennessee school shop and laboratory safety protocols. Inventory tools, materials, software licenses, and equipment regularly. Prepare raw materials, technology stations, and kits before class. Maintain a clean, organized, and professional lab environment. Report broken machinery or safety hazards to administration immediately. AdministrativeProfessional Duties Track student progress, daily attendance, and safety certification records. Grade routine assignments, worksheets, and objective lab checklists. Supervise students during transitions, lunch, or arrival/dismissal periods. Participate in school-level professional development and CTE training.
QualificationsRequirements EducationCertification Diploma :
High School Diploma or GED required.
Credentials :
Passing score on the Tennessee ParaPro Assessment or two years of college completion
ExperienceSkills Background :
Experience working with middle school-aged children preferred.
Industry :
Basic knowledge in fields like agriculture, STEM, business, or health science is a plus.
Tech :
Proficiency with computers, grading software, and basic classroom technology.
Traits :
Strong patience, clear communication, and excellent organizational skills. 1
Physical Requirements Standing :
Ability to stand and walk around labs for long periods.
Lifting :
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds of lab supplies.
Environment :
Comfort working around machinery, tools, or kitchen equipment depending on the specific CTE pathway.
