  • Odessa College is hiring a Medical Assistant Instructor Assistant to teach part time at Big Bend Medical Center in Alpine Texas.
Experience:
Must have a minimum of 3 years experience as a cerified Medical Assistant.
Education:
Must have a Bachelor's or Associate's degree in a healthcare-related field, certificate of completion from an accredited Medical Assistant program, or equivalent experience.
Language:
Must be able to communicate effectively in English with staff and students.
Driver's License:
Not a factor.
Requirements:
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant is required.
  • Prior teaching experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency in the use of educational technology, including Blackboard Ultra Learning.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to upholding high ethical and professional standards.
  • Strong knowledge and expertise in the following subject areas: Anatomy & Physiology for Medical Assistant Medical Terminology Human Disease/Pathophysiology Medical Law & Ethics Pharmacology & Administration of Medications Administrative Procedures Procedures in a Clincal Setting Medical Assistant Laboratory Procedures Medical Insurance Medical Assistant Interpersonal & Communication Skills Medical Assisting Credentialing Exam Review
Duties:
  • The role will support and assist the CMA Instructor with classroom instruction, including helping facilitate hands-on training, supporting student learning, and assisting with day-to-day instructional activities.
  • Deliver engaging and comprehensive instruction to students in accordance with program objectives.
  • Develop and update course materials and resource to align with program requirements.
  • Employ a combination of face-to-face instruction and the use of Blackboard Ultra Learning for a blended learning experience.
  • Maintain a productive and organized classroom environment conducive to student success.
  • Assess and evaluate student progress through assignments, exams, and practical demonstrations.
  • Communicate effectively with students, provide timely feedback, and address their academic needs.
  • Addtional duties as needed.
  • Employment is contingent on enrollment per term, and the position is strictly part-time with a maximum of 19 hours per week.
