Job Description
FEDERALLY FUNDED
This position is fully/partially funded through federal grant funds and is contingent upon the availability of those supplemental grant funds. Employees in federally funded positions are required to maintain grant-specific time and effort documentation and follow all applicable administrative regulations for the grant.ROLE AND PURPOSE
Provide teacher-directed classroom support services that reinforce instruction planned and delivered by the classroom teacher.. Assist in maintenance of structured classroom routines and management of classroom activities. Work under direct supervision of a teacher.QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or equivalent Valid Texas educational aide certificate must be obtained before starting the positionExperience:
Some experience working with childrenSPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
Ability to support student practice and academic engagement in reading, writing, and mathematics under teacher direction. Ability to work well with children.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
I.INSTRUCTIONAL SUPPORT
Assist the teacher with teacher-planned one-to-one or small-group activities designed to reinforce previously taught concepts. Assist in classroom management Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays Assist teacher in providing a behavior management program which emphasizes positive reinforcement Help maintain neat and orderly classroom Operate duplicating, laminating, and audio-visual equipment Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reportsII. OTHER DUTIES
Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance. Participate in faculty meeting and special events as assigned. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.III. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
