Education/Certification:

High School diploma or equivalent CDA (preferred but not required)

Experience:

Prior experience working with young children in an instructional setting preferred.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Align the major functions of the assignment with district goals. 2. Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning materials or skills introduced by the PreK teacher. 3. Operate and care for equipment or instructional materials used in the PreK classroom for instructional purposes. 4. Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work as assigned by the PreK teacher. 5. Assist with the supervision of students inside and outside the classroom. This includes meals, emergency drills, assemblies, outside play, and/or field trips. (No cell phone use when students are present). 6. Maintain confidentiality. 7. Keep the PreK teacher informed of special needs or challenges of individual students. 8. Assist with supervision of daily routines and schedules. 9. Help maintain a neat and orderly PreK classroom. 10. Provide information and assistance to a substitute teacher should one be assigned. 11. Participate in appropriate staff development as required to ensure professional growth. 12. Participate in staff or committee meetings as required. 13. Participate in PreK special events as assigned. 14. Other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities None Equipment used: Copier, personal computer, and audio visual equipment.
