Primary Purpose:

Assist in the implementation of individualized education programs (IEPs) for students receiving special education services. Provide instructional, behavioral, and self-care support under the direction and supervision of a certified teacher. Help maintain a structured, inclusive, and safe learning environment.

Qualifications:
Education/Certification:

High school diploma or GED Valid Texas educational aide certificate

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Ability to work with children with disabilities Knowledge of or willingness to learn instructional strategies and behavior intervention techniques Strong communication and interpersonal skills Basic technology skills for assistive devices and instructional programs

• Ability to maintain confidentiality

Experience:

Experience working with children preferred

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Instructional Support Provide instructional support to students based on their IEP goals under the guidance of the special education teacher. Assist in preparing and adapting instructional materials and accommodations. 3. Support student use of assistive technology tools and devices.

Student Management Implement behavior intervention plans and use de-escalation techniques as needed. 5. Supervise students during transitions, meals, transportation, and extracurricular activities. 6. Provide assistance with self-care needs, including toileting, feeding, and hygiene, when required. Classroom and Administrative Support Help maintain a structured and organized learning environment. Assist in tracking student progress, documenting behaviors, and supporting IEP implementation. Professionalism and Development Participate in professional development related to special education, behavior management, and instructional strategies. Communicate and collaborate effectively with teachers, staff, and families to support student success. Follow district policies, safety protocols, and maintain student confidentiality at all times.

Regular light to moderate lifting and carrying (up to 50 pounds); occasional physical restraint of students to ensure safety

Work inside and outside; exposure to noise and possible bodily fluids; may require travel between campuses

Maintain emotional control under stress; manage frequent interruptions; support students with significant needs
