Job Description
Wild Hearts Community School is a dynamic, outdoor and art-based preschool looking for a dedicated Assistant Preschool Teacher to join our team! Our preschool is located in the vibrant heart of downtown Denton and offers a unique, enriching experience for children ages 3-6. We are an arts-infused school that blends elements of Montessori and Waldorf education, with a strong emphasis on outdoor exploration and messy art projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the lead teacher in creating a safe, supportive, and engaging classroom environment. Work with a group of 12 preschool-aged children, supporting their social, emotional, and intellectual growth. Spend substantial time outdoors with the children, facilitating nature walks, gardening, and outdoor play. Support the children's art exploration, including organizing and assisting with messy, creative art activities. Foster positive, supportive relationships with children, encouraging their development and independence. Follow and implement the preschool's educational philosophy, incorporating elements of Montessori and Waldorf methods. Collaborate with the lead teacher to plan, organize, and implement daily activities. Ensure the classroom is clean, safe, and well-maintained, especially when working with art materials and outdoor activities.Qualifications:
Experience working with preschool-aged children (ages 3-6) is required. A background in Early Childhood Education or related field is preferred. Comfort with spending significant time outdoors, even in all weather conditions, and working on child-led art projects. Ability to work collaboratively with a team of teachers and interact positively with children, parents, and colleagues. Strong communication skills and a warm, patient demeanor. Creativity and flexibility are essential to thrive in our unique, hands-on educational environment.Job Type:
