Job Description

Primary Purpose:

This position requires an individual to assist with the continued education of students in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. In addition, this position may also require substitution in multiples classes and/or subjects.

Qualifications:
Education/Certification:

High School Diploma required.

Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Teaching Certification preferred.

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Previous experience that includes teaching, classroom management, and working with at-risk adolescents in an alternative education setting.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Facilitates individualized learning in an open-enrollment environment using regular classroom teacher lesson plan(s).

Follow curriculum guidelines or requirements of state and school.

Maintains confidentiality of all student information

Maintains discipline in classroom and follows school discipline procedures.

Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Work will predominantly be inside but outdoor work will occur. Working conditions may be in both heat and cold. Job requires bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, reaching overhead, twisting, and sitting on the floor. Work environment may include indoor, outdoor, and field trips. Work under fast-paced, loud, stressful conditions. Some local travel may be required.
