Special Education Paraprofessional - Sign Language Support Greater Good Student Support Services - 5.0 Houston, TX Job Details Part-time $22 - $25 an hour 10 hours ago Qualifications First aid American Sign Language Assisting with ADLs High school diploma or GED Working with students Full Job Description Job Overview We are seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional Specialzing in Sign Language Support to assist teachers and students in the educational setting. This position supports students in learning academic content and skills while using sign language to facilitate communication between students, teachers, and peers . The paraprofessional will provide individual and small-group instructional support, assist with classroom activities, collect data related to IEP objectives, and support students with personal care, behavioral, mobility, or medically related needs when assigned and appropriately trained. Duties Communicate with students using sign language and support communication between students, teachers, and peers. Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce skills and material initially taught by the teacher. Collect and record data related to students' IEP objectives and educational plans . Assist with preparing, modifying, distributing, and collecting instructional materials. Assist with administering, scoring, and recording teacher-directed achievement tests, diagnostic tests, quizzes, and other classroom assessments. Support students with classroom instructional materials, equipment, technology, and other learning activities. Assist with student supervision during lunch, assemblies, play periods, transitions, and movement to special classes. Provide assigned personal-care support , which may include toileting, diapering, feeding, clothing changes, hygiene, and other activities of daily living. Perform medically related services when assigned and after appropriate training by a nurse, which may include tube feeding, suctioning, monitoring seizure activity, transfers, and CPR. Provide assigned physical and behavioral supports, which may include therapeutic holds, physical restraints, reinforcement systems, mobility assistance, and transfers. Maintain confidentiality and a high level of professional and ethical conduct when working with students. Participate in assigned professional development and follow district safety and emergency procedures. Complete required documentation, including documentation of applicable SHARS billable services. Qualifications & Experience High school diploma or GED required. Must be eligible for the appropriate paraprofessional certification . Basic sign language skills required. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to manage student behavior and work effectively with students in an educational setting. Ability to use classroom technology, multimedia equipment, and instructional materials. Valid Texas driver's license, proof of automobile liability insurance, and a clean driving record. Previous experience is not required , although relevant experience working with students or in special education is beneficial. Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the assignment, which may include standing, sitting, bending, pushing/pulling, transferring students, and lifting as required by student needs.

Pay:

$22.00 - $25.00 per hour Expected hours: 7.5 per week
