Job Description

Position Summary The Assistant Teacher plays a vital supporting role within the classroom and is responsible for helping ensure that the classroom operates with the highest standards of educational excellence and quality while providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment. Responsible for assisting in the implementation of developmentally appropriate learning experiences that support students' academic, social, emotional, and physical growth at the childcare level, and in accordance with the Lightbridge Academy Mission, Vision, and Core Values. Assistant Teachers work collaboratively with the Lead Teacher to maintain classroom routines, support individual student needs, uphold the integrity of the company, and serve as a positive representative of Lightbridge Academy within the classroom and community. The Assistant Teacher is expected to intentionally support both early literacy and STEM development by actively facilitating engaging, developmentally appropriate experiences that strengthen foundational phonics skills (letter-sound recognition, phonemic awareness, vocabulary development, and early reading readiness) alongside foundational STEM concepts such as observation, counting, sorting, pattern recognition, cause and effect, and problem-solving. This role fosters a love for learning by encouraging children to actively participate in language-rich conversations, hands-on exploration, and meaningful play experiences that support confidence in early reading, communication, reasoning, and critical thinking. The Assistant Teacher helps create and maintain a classroom environment that promotes curiosity, inquiry, creativity, and discovery—encouraging children to ask questions, explore new ideas, collaborate with peers, and develop confidence in both early literacy and problem-solving skills while supporting the Lead Teacher in delivering a high-quality educational experience. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Assist in delivering quality classroom experiences by ensuring a safe and nurturing learning environment that encourages social, emotional, physical and intellectual development. Assist in implementing appropriate lessons plans in accordance with the Seedlings curriculum, and striving to continually meet the highest standards of excellence in quality childcare and education. Deliver exceptional customer service to parents by going above and beyond, including assisting parents during arrival and departure and addressing any other questions and concerns promptly and effectively. Assist the Lead Teacher in observing and assessing students for creating and maintaining individual profiles, portfolios and parent conferences, and adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests. Maintain interaction with children at all times during small and whole group interactive learning. Implement a philosophy of positive reinforcement and redirection of children's behavior, in accordance with Lightbridge Academy's Discipline Policy. Supervise children during daily outdoor recess. Ensure proper staff/child ratio as set by the state licensing entity. Participate in weekly mini-meetings in conjunction with Lead Teachers, and other meetings as needed. Participate in required trainings and meetings, and travel to off-site trainings as needed. Participate in marketing events and tours as needed; assist with the sales process by engaging parents during the classroom tour and following-up post-tour.
