Teacher Assistant, Physical Education

EDUCATION
High School Diploma or GED and/or 30 semester hours of an accredited college or university Educational Aide Certificate from state of Texas
EXPERIENCE
Some experience working with children Position Function/Purpose Assist the teacher in the preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements. Work under the supervision of a certified teacher. Essential Functions 1. Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and state and local board policy 2. Assist the teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays 3. Work with individual students or small groups to conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher 4. Assist with the administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments 5. Assist in supervising students throughout the school day, both inside and outside the classroom 6. Keep the teacher informed of any special needs or problems of individual students 7. Assist in maintaining a neat and orderly classroom 8. Assist in inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment 9. Assist the teacher in keeping administrative records and preparing reports 10. Participate in in-service programs, faculty meetings, and special events, as needed 11. Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers 12. All other duties as assigned by the supervisor Qualification Requirements Possess, or be willing to apply for, a TEA Educational Aide Certificate (personal expense) Educational Aide certificate as established by the State Board for Educator Certification. The applicant for the educational aide certificate shall 1. hold a high school diploma, the equivalent of a high school diploma, or higher; 2. have satisfied one of the following requirements: a. has three creditable years of experience, as defined in Chapter 153, Subchapter CC, of this title (relating to Commissioner's Rules on Creditable Years of Service), as either an educational aide I or II; b. has completed 30 semester credit hours of college credit with some emphasis on child growth and development or related subject areas; 3. Have experience working with students and parents as approved by the employing superintendent. 4. Ability to work well with children 5. Knowledge of general office equipment Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
