Minimum Requirements:
An applicant for an educational aide III certificate shall: 1) hold a high school diploma, the equivalent of a high school diploma, or higher; 2) have satisfied one of the following requirements: a) have three creditable years of experience, as defined in Chapter 153, Subchapter CC, of this title (relating to Commissioner's Rules on Creditable Years of Service), as either an educational aide I or II; or b) have completed 30 semester credit hours of college credit with some emphasis on child growth and development or related subject areas; and c) have experience working with students or parents as approved by the employing superintendent.
Primary Purpose:
The primary purpose of this position is to provide highly qualified instructional support for the teacher. The instructional assistant assists the teacher in the preparation of classroom activities and administrative requirements. This position works under the supervision of a certified teacher.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Demonstrated ability to work effectively and harmoniously with administrators and other staff. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both in written form and orally. Possess technical skills necessary to perform essential job requirements, such as adequate knowledge of subject matter, sound teaching methodology, and effective discipline techniques. Treat all people with dignity and respect.
