The job of Student Advocate is done for the purpose/s of providing academic, attendance and behavioral support to students.
Essential Functions:
Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher for the purpose of supporting students Administers tests, homework, make-up work, etc. for the purpose of supporting teachers in the classroom. Attends job specific trainings and meetings (e.g. first aid, behavior management, etc.) for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions. Communicates with supervising instructional staff, teachers and administration Demonstrates appropriate role modeling (e.g. conversation, manners, emotional support, listening skills, friendly and engaging attitudes, etc.) for the purpose of guiding students in the development of appropriate social and interpersonal behavior. Monitors students during assigned periods in a variety of school environments (e.g. rest rooms, playgrounds, hallways, bus loading zones, cafeteria, parking lots, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive learning environment. Performs a variety of clerical duties (e.g. screening phone calls, distributing materials, maintaining inventories, processing documents, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring efficient and effective operations. Provides, under the supervision of assigned teacher, instruction to students in a variety of individual and group activities Reports observations and incidents relating to specific students (e.g. accidents, fights, inappropriate social behavior, violations of rules, safety conditions, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information to appropriate instructional and/or administrative personnel. Supervises and escorts kids to/from classes for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment for students.
Requirements:
Age 16+ High school diploma or equivalent Must complete mandatory employee training within the first 3 months of employment.
